SQL SERVER – Exponential EXP() – SQL Math Functions @SQLSERVER

EXP() function returns an exponential value of the given float expression. This function has one mandatory argument and it returns float type exponential value.

The exponential function is equal to ex. The value for the constant float number e is approximately 2.718281828 (natural logarithm). Refer LOG() function.

We have to provide the value for x as float expression in EXP() function.

Syntax

EXP ( float expression )

Example

–0 to the power anything is equal to 1
select exp(0)
output: 1

–Exponential of 1 is approx equal to 2.71…. and is the constant value e
select exp(1)
Output: 2.71828182845905

–2.718281828 ^ 2
select exp(2)
Output: 7.38905609893065

–Using power function to get exponential value of 2
select power(2.718281828, 2)
Output: 7.389056096

In simple words EXP() function is used to get the value of e ^ x. Thanks for reading.

I hope you did enjoy this blog post and Christmas 2012.
