Get the list of shared drive names used by SQL cluster – SQL Server

fn_servershareddrives() : This function returns the shared drive names that are configured in the SQL cluster instance. This function is very useful to identify and use drives available to users. But, we should have VIEW SERVER STATE permission to execute this function.

This function returns the shared drive list if we execute this function in SQL cluster instance else it returns no value.

Implementation

Execution function fn_servershareddrives. This is not a cluster environment.

pic1This function may be removed from the future SQL server edition. So, we must use catalog view “sys.dm_io_cluster_shared_drives” in our new application development.

Catalog view

select * from sys.dm_io_cluster_shared_drives
