SQL SERVER – What is not in SQL SERVER 2014 CPT1 – Deprecated Features

It is not a big surprise that some of the items/features are missing in this new version – SQL Server 2014.

  1. SSDT BI is not part of installation. We have to download separately from the Microsoft Download Center.
  2. VIA protocol is not available in this new version

pic13. Data compatibility level 12.0 is not available now and will available in future. But, the available levels are 90, 100 an 110 only.

4. Missing/Deprecated Data types : timestamp, text, ntext and image

I think, this CTP1 version does not exclude everything as said in the deprecated or not supported features list. So, at-least in this preview version we should just use this to explore the new features and get experienced.
