Hotfixes for SQL Server 2012 Business Intelligence Services

Microsoft released Cumulative Update 10 for SQL Server 2012 SP1 today. This hot-fix release contains more fixes for Business Intelligence related components. Below given are BI related hotfixes for Integration Services, Data Quality Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services

Integration Services

  1. You cannot change the Run64BitRuntime property of an Integration Services project by using the SQL Server Data Tools in SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2014
  2. FIX: The execution of SSIS package takes a long time when you cannot enable garbage collector server mode in SSIS 2012
  3. FIX: Errors when you use export/import data wizard to move data after apply CU2 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 or in SQL Server 2012
  4. FIX: “Query Timeout Expired” when you preview a command of an SSIS package in SSDT 2012
  5. FIX: The execution of an SSIS 2012 package that is stored in MSDB is slower than it is stored on the file system
  6. FIX: SSIS 2012 XML validator only outputs “TRUE” or “FALSE” when you perform XML validation

Data Quality Services

  1. FIX: Attributes sort incorrectly after using the Attribute Properties function in SQL Server 2012 MDS Add-in for Excel
  2. FIX: Error when you execute DQS stored procedure [internal_core].[RestoreDQDatabases] in SQL Server 2012
  3. FIX: Error when you use DQS Cleansing Component with large batch in an SSIS 2012 package
  4. FIX: Incorrect DBA reference of business rules after you upgrade SQL Server 2008 R2 MDS to SQL Server 2012 MDS

Analysis Services

  1. FIX: Totals are wrong after you filter on a pivot table item and remove the filter in SSAS 2012
  2. FIX: SSAS instance crashes when you perform writeback action by using the role with cell security defined
  3. FIX: The execution of an MDX query in SSAS 2012 is much slower than it is SSAS 2008 R2
  4. Incorrect folder when deploying PowerPivot solutions through CA
  5. FIX: Access violation occurs when running a Process Recalc on a tabular table in SSAS 2012
  6. FIX: Sub-total of calculated measure is incorrect (non-filtered) when you execute MDX query in SSAS 2012
  7. FIX: Performance regression when you operate on a string or Boolean column by using DAX functions in SQL Server 2012
  8. FIX: An exception and access violation occur when you run an MDX calculation in SSAS 2012

Reporting Services

  1. FIX: Excel rendering extension produces corrupted files when rendering a NaN or Infinity value in SSRS 2012
  2. FIX: Data-driven subscription can’t be created when the driving query takes longer than 30 seconds to execute in SQL Server 2012
  3. FIX: Keyboard keys do not work for Report Viewer 2012 in a Windows Forms application
  4. FIX: “Parameter missing value” error when you use a drillthrough report in SharePoint in SSRS 2012

    I don’t think CU10 has got much to do with speeding MDX queries, as I’ve a few MDX queries with complex calculations that have been running quite fast (20 secs) on 2008 R2 but have been taking over 2 mins in 2012 even after SP1 CU10 install. Something else is yet missing in 2012.
