It is very interesting to see a consistent growth of Microsoft in BI and Analytics environment. Lets see Gartner’s Magic Quadrant BI and Analytics graph so several years.
We will revisit next year to see what-else has changed. By the way, what is your favorite tool.
WinMerge is an open source differencing and merging tool for Windows. This tool can compare both folders and files and present differences in a visual text format. It is more readable and gives precise information.
I found this tool very useful for me while developing SQL files for my project. Me and my team has developed lot of SQL query files as part of our project. Often, we exchange our ideas and lot of codes in SQL files. Each file is a module in our project. Unknowingly, we have got lot of SQL files for each module. We do have comments in each file. But, some of the files as minor changes that is very hard to eye-ball entire file.
I know we should have TFS or some version control software to handle this. But, This is not the time to think about that. We need to find the differences between some files to get the exact logic we implemented for that module.
I did the Google search as usual and found this tool. This tool helped me a lot and suggest you to just download and use this tool.
You can download this tool here.
Real-Time Database Object Monitor (RTDBOM) is a simple SSRS report. It helps to monitor the changes in a database objects such as
- Stored Procedures
This report as a home page and 4 separate pages for each object with navigation option. So, you can move from the home page to other pages and vice versa.
Each object report is design with conditional coloring. It shows the latest modified object row in yellow color.
One additional feature is, reports have auto refresh option. It refreshes object information every 60 seconds.
For now, Data Source is configured with static connection string. In future release, RTDBOM will have more objects list and features to help database developers and administrators to keep track on the changes happening in the database environment.
Report download, If you use this project, please do not change or remove string “SQLServerRider.com”.

Today, I am going talk about an analytics for Twitter application.
It is a PowerPivot application that connects to tweeter within Excel 2010 and gives your tweet statistics. I found it very interesting because, we can pass our own tweet account and gets the information such as no. of tweets per day, top tweeters, top mentions, top hash tags and so on.
It has a very beautiful interface with native features of PowerPivot and Excel. Components which are more attractive in the front screen are charts of different types, slicer and textual stat of the tweets.
Screen Shot of the Application
Instead of talking more about the application, I would recommend you to download the application from the Microsoft website.
There are some prerequisite to run this application. So, please read the instruction.
